Alabama Governor Signs Proclamation Commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Reunification of Jerusalem - Brief Record

Cultivating State-to-State Relationship for the Mutual Benefit of Our People

What: June 7, 2017 is the 50th anniversary of the reunification of Jerusalem and the national commemoration includes live coordinated events from our nation’s capital and in Jerusalem with U.S. and Israeli dignitaries. Kay Ivey, Governor of Alabama, signed a proclamation commemorating this significant Jubilee of Jerusalem, noting the special history and relationship between Alabama and Israel, and highlighting the transformative impact of the 1967 Six-Day War - from the reunification of Jerusalem, to later peace accords with Egypt, Jordan, and the withdrawal from Gaza as Israel continues to strive for peace with her Arab neighbors.

Alabama State Capital - Presentation of Special Gift to the Governor


Special Gift: As a special thank you gift, the students of N.E. Miles Jewish Day School (Birmingham, AL) drew the Coat of Arms of the City of Jerusalem and each wrote on it a thank you note and signed their names in both English and Hebrew. It was presented to the Governor on behalf of the students by James Henry Brook (Right) 4th Grade Student at N.E. Miles Jewish Day School, and Eli Brook (Left) 2nd Grade Student at N.E. Miles Jewish Day School.


Thank you: Gift presented to the Governor from the students of N.E. Miles Jewish Day School. The Coat of Arms of the City of Jerusalem, with the names of the students signed in both English and Hebrew.

Official Signing: Leaders from a number of diverse organizations across the state that care deeply about the Alabama-Israel relationship surround the Governor and look on as she officially signs the proclamation commemorating the 50th anniversary of the reunification of Jerusalem. They represent ages 7 to 70, students to retirees, Jewish Federations to Christian Ministries and Organizations, and geographically are from a variety of cites throughout the state.
